MINERVA CENTER FOR

BIOLOGICAL MECHANISMS
OF HEALTHY AGING
The significant increase in human longevity create great sociological, economical and mainly medical challenges. Therefore, understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the aging process will enable us to significantly improve the health of the elderly and will have a great impact on the future of humanity.
The Minerva Research Center on Mechanism of Healthy Aging, which generate a network of interactions and collaborations between the various labs, combines leading labs from Israel and Germany.
The basic core members are from The Faculty of Life Sciences, Bar-Ilan University, Israel and CECAD Cluster of Excellence at University of Cologne, Germany.
The Center’s activities enable and assist academic research, workshops, conferences and student training. Specifically, we focus on two major mechanisms underlying the aging process: genome stability and metabolism. Joining forces between the labs, together with experts in computational analysis of human aging, will significantly expand our understanding on the basic mechanisms of aging, enable the translation of this knowledge into humans and development of the healthy longevity molecular signature.
